depending on where you found it, 9-11 could be high or low. In pre-searing ascalon, thats a pretty goood weapon. In post ascension shiverpeaks it's pretty weak. You'll be constantly upgrading and replacing your armor and weapons. Hell, my ranger has 5 different bow strings sitting in inventory right now, just so I can swap one out for a more effective one depending on what I'm facing.

ok here is my questions. i have been playing for like a week now and I have picked up some (i guess) good things. Gold, purple and blue weapons and shields. I was wondering how do i know what to sell these things for (how much gold). Is it worth trying to sell to some one on the trade part, sell it to a merchant or salvage it. I need to get rid of things because i have no more room, but i don't want to salvage something for 1 bone when i could have sold it for 30K. Please help me with this so i dont screw myself.

Default Couple Questions

I just purchased Guild Wars today, I am a past player of EQ and WoW(and ive tried DAoC, AO, and FFXI). I have a couple questions which i seem to be unable to find answers to in my research.

1) Secondary profession - are there any negatives to choosing a secondary profession? ie if i were a warrior and chose necro or some other caster class would i say hit softer than a pure warrior? i assume that primary class determines your melee/casting abilities so i guess im wondering if the secondary profession has an effect on that(whether positive or negative)....if there is no negative impact it seems like there would never be a reason for a person to not pick up a seconday class....

2) equipment - i am wondering whether the game is very equipment dependent or not...ie does someone who is very well equipped automatically destroy someone not so well equipped?....i guess this is also dependent on whether it is difficult to get the best items in the game? or are all lvl 20s similarly equipped?

3) PvP battle sizes - after entering the game i was somewhat disapointed that the only 2 pvp options were for 4 and 8 man teams...i was hoping for a much larger scale....so there in lies my question...how large scale is guild pvp...is it limited...or can it get up to something like 50 vs 50?

4) combat log - is there someway to have a text display of the events of a battle(like most mmorpg games)?

thanks for your time

Question A question about fame

My friend and I recently started fighting in the pvp arenas, not HoH, and we were wondering why our fame wont go up past 1. The highest our consecutive wins have been is around 7, incase that means anything. Are we doing something wrong?

As far as I know, you only get fame by winning in Tombs of Primeval Kings. So you can win up to 50 in arena, but you wonm't get any fame. You do get a lot of faction though.

As for the questions above:

1. You can't go bad choosing a secondary proffession, but your armor, energy etc will be according to your primary class. That means that a W will have 20 energy, a R 25, and all casters 30 energy as standard energy. The max of your armor will also depend on you primary class. Rest assured, you will not hot softer (but with the right skills of your secondary proffession, you can hit harder).

2. The game is about skill, and not equipment. Max dmg weapons are relatively easy to acquire, but it's how you use them that determins who wins. It will take you some time to get the weapons with perfect mods though, but a weapon that will give you 1 hp more than the other will serve you just as well.

3. 8 vs 8 is still the largest for guild battles. A team can only be up to 8 players. In Tomns of Primeval Kings it is possible to face up to 4 teams (5 total), but you will face 1 first, then go to the next area where it will be a 3 team melee at best.

4. unfortunately not. Good idea for expension maybe?

Hope this helps!
